Universities around the world have become quite effective at training and preparing students, postdocs,
and faculty for careers in science and medicine. Extensive effort and many years are devoted to becoming an
expert in a specific discipline. However, one often neglected area of training that plays a critical role
in determining the success of any scientist or clinician is scientific writing.

Publication of research results is the global measure used by all disciplines to gauge a scientist’s level
of success. Clear and concise communication is the essence of scientific and medical publishing. Without
clear writing, your results, ideas, and goals can be easily lost or confused by readers. Gifted scientists
